Editorial policy

Last updated:

Mortgage math is a “your money or your life” topic. This policy explains who publishes MorgageCalculator, what we will not claim, and how we correct mistakes. Content is editorially reviewed by the MorgageCalculator team. We do not invent named advisors, CFA/CFP credentials, or LinkedIn profiles to decorate a byline.

1. Who writes

Guides and calculator copy are published under an organization byline — the MorgageCalculator editorial team — not a fictional loan officer. Pages that show an author name use that same team credit sitewide. We are not a lender, broker, or investment adviser.

2. Calculator claims

Payment results are estimates from documented formulas. Assumptions (PMI bands, default tax and insurance rates, 78% LTV PMI cutoff) live on the methodology page with a worked example. We do not label those models “bank-grade” or claim they match a specific lender’s quote within a promised percentage.

3. Numbers and social proof

We do not publish unverifiable user counts, star ratings, or testimonials. We do not mark up fake Review or AggregateRating schema. If we ever cite traffic or testing data, it will include a date and a method we can show.

4. Market rates

This site does not ingest Freddie Mac PMMS or any other live rate feed. We will not invent “this week’s average 30-year fixed.” Readers should check the official survey or a lender quote and type that rate into the tool.

5. AI assistance

Drafting tools may help with outlines or copy edits. Published pages are reviewed for formula truthfulness and for YMYL tone. AI is not used to fabricate sources, reviews, credentials, or usage statistics.

6. Corrections

If you find an error in a formula, example, or legal page, email hello@morgagecalculator.us. Material corrections get an updated date on the affected page.
